Influence of Eccentric Training on Non Dominant Hamstring Strength in Sprinters
نویسنده
چکیده
Study focuses on muscle imbalance of non dominant hamstring with dominant hamstring muscle of lower limb, which is one of the predisposing factor for injury. Moreover the injury is likely to occur in the eccentric phase ,the strength imbalance can also hinder the performance. Thereby aim of study is to determine the influence of eccentric training on Non – Dominant Hamstring Strength in Sprinters .for this a pilot study is been conducted using hoping test to find out the nondominant leg, after differentiate the non dominant hamstring where given eccentric strengthening for the period of six weeks. Pre and post strength assessment carried out with 1 RM test. Speed test where assessed using 30 meters sprint test Result; shows significant strength and speed of the sprinters. Conclusion: the study concluded that strength training initiate greater strength in non dominant hamstring, which indirectly improve the performance of sprinters.

Hamstring injuries in sprinters. The role of concentric and eccentric hamstring muscle strength and flexibility.
Eleven sprinters with recent hamstring injuries were compared with nine uninjured runners. The flexibility of the hamstrings and the eccentric and concentric muscle torque were measured in the hamstrings and quadriceps muscles at different angular velocities. Sprinters with a previous hamstring injury had significantly tighter hamstrings than uninjured sprinters had. The uninjured sprinters had...
متن کاملPrevention of Hamstring Injuries in Collegiate Sprinters
BACKGROUND No studies have been reported on how strength, agility, and flexibility training reduce the occurrence of hamstring injuries in sprinters. Therefore, a program for preventing hamstring injury in these athletes has not been established. PURPOSE To document the incidence of hamstring injuries during times when different prevention strategies were employed to see whether a particular ...
متن کاملEffects of Concentric and Eccentric Strength Training on Electromyography Activity of the Knee Agonist –Antagonist Muscle
Purpose: An appropriate activity of the knee agonist -antagonist muscles is important to resist against abnormal abduction-adduction moments loads around knee joint and reduce the risk of knee injuries. Exercise training has been commonly used as an intervention to improve neuromuscular activity within the synergic and/or agonist-antagonist muscles. However, maximizing the effectiveness of exer...
متن کاملEccentric training for prevention of hamstring injuries may depend on intervention compliance: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
BACKGROUND Hamstring injury is a prevalent muscle injury in sports. Inconclusive evidence exists for eccentric hamstring strengthening to prevent hamstring injuries. One reason for this discrepancy may be the influence intervention non-compliance has on individual study estimates, and therefore pooled estimates. OBJECTIVE This systematic review aims to determine the effect of eccentric hamstr...
متن کاملA 10-week randomized trial comparing eccentric vs. concentric hamstring strength training in well-trained soccer players.
PURPOSE To compare the effects of a 10-week training program with two different exercises -- traditional hamstring curl (HC) and Nordic hamstrings (NH), a partner exercise focusing the eccentric phase -- on muscle strength among male soccer players. METHODS Subjects were 21 well-trained players who were randomized to NH training (n = 11) or HC training (n = 10). The programs were similar, wit...
